Infamous for their invite-friendly system, OnePlus has managed to keep the hype high for its annual update, the OnePlus 2. Anticipation has been running high since the recent Reddit AMAA that involved co-founder, Carl Pei. Eager buyers will be pleased to know that we are only 5 days away from the virtual reality themed launch by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.
Finally, the photo gives OnePlus fans a visualisation of their possible next device. Front-side there are no odd mentions, other than the large finger print sensor/potential home button on the bottom, a new addition opposed to the older OnePlus. It seems that metal wraps around the devices edges of the OnePlus 2 and nothing to shout about regarding the right side of the phone though, where three of the usual buttons live – volume rockers and power button. However, there is a new inclusion on the left, which could very well be a dedicated camera button.
Making up the back, in terms of texture, it looks similarly to the type of material used on the previous sandstone black model. A familiar camera model is placed lower this time around, and below that as well is what could be a laser autofocus module – giving some substantiation to OnePlus’ said emphasis on the camera on its newest device. Entrusted to give fans a preview of the device’s camera prowess, Marques Brownlee gave us an in-depth look at how the lens performs, as seen below.

A steady slew of specifications have already been confirmed, such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, USB Type-C connector and a 3,300 mAh battery. The TENAA certification also lists a 5.5″ Quad HD display (2560×1440 resolution), 32GB of storage and 13MP + 8MP camera combos. While these beefy insides would raise concerns to the budget-friendly, OnePlus maintains that it will cost less than 450 USD and yet still include a finger-print sensor that is most probably taking advantage of Android M’s compatibility.
